Acoustic Guitar Lessons

January 3rd, 2010 No comments

These mini guitar lessons have put together for the beginner acoustic guitar student who feels a require to play music but is a bit short on direction.

Lesson 1 – What form of guitar are you going to buy?

If you have a thought of what form of music you wish to play, the following step is to find yourself a guitar.

Let us commence with the fundamentals, nylon string or steel string. A nylon string guitar was making to play classical and folk music. Acoustic guitars make their music by sending the vibration of the strings to the soundboard. The vibrations are then amplifying in the body of the guitar. Nylon string guitars come to a mellow tone, steel string guitars come to a brighter, more metallic sound. One of the main things that will influence you in selecting what form of sound you wish is the guitar your favorite performer plays.

If you are just starting out you will not require a top of the range guitar but it is best to get the nicest one in your price range. A economical, poorly produced guitar will be an uphill battle to play. A good instrument will make your practice sessions something to look forward.

Try different guitars. See how the neck feels. Verify out if one neck feels more comfortable to play than others do. Another recommendation is the distance of the strings from the fret board, which is call the “action”. Low action is easier to play but if you are preparing on strumming enthusiastically or deciding loudly the guitar may have a tendency to buzz.

Lesson 2 – Go ahead and learn.

The very first step toward learning to play acoustic guitar is to gain confidence and to overcome your natural reluctance to try new things. Lack of cash, lack of time, or lack of a good instructor is three tremendous obstacles to your guitar learning progress. The other three tremendous obstacles are all up to you. You might be your own worst enemy. How do you react to a challenge? Challenges are your friends. If you find yourself getting disappointed, and not wanting to keep on your practice, it can be time to downsize your aim, at least for some time. If you have two chords that you have problem with, work on the first one alone for some time. Once you have improved slightly, go to the following one.

Lesson 3 – Practice daily

As far as you are every day practice goes look at starting with half an hour a day. If you can do more, superb, you will turn a guitarist quicker. The way you carry out your practice is critical. Placing in the time is not the only requirement. If you rush or try to fit too much in, then you are working contrary yourself. Err on the side of too little material at first. If you really are attaining what you kick off to do in less than thirty minutes, then add slightly more.

Lesson 4 – Tuning Your Guitar

You can find online guitar tuners to help you get your acoustic guitar in tune. Take a day or two of your practice time to get the knack of tuning. When start to gain an ear for tuning, try tuning the guitar without the tuner.

Lesson 5 – Holding Your Acoustic Guitar

Long hours of practice can take their toll. Learning how to sit and play your acoustic guitar is an art in itself. There are places on the net that have illustrations demonstrating you how to sit every time you’re playing, but it would be good to find someone with slightly experience to explain you. However, do not just go with the way one person plays. If he is self taught, then you do not want to elect up his bad habits!

Easy Acoustic Guitar Lessons

January 3rd, 2010 No comments

Looking for easy acoustic guitar lessons? Well, here are a few suggestions on what to look for when searching for an easy acoustic guitar lesson.

1. The lessons should be what they say… easy! Seriously, lessons don’t have to be long and drawn out or difficult to understand. Look for lessons that focus in on just the basics so that you will be able to start playing songs very quickly. This helps to give you a sense of accomplishment ,too.

2. Find lessons that teach with 4 chords or less. This way everything stays easy and playable and you’ll learn songs very quickly.

3. Ready to play your favorite songs? That’s probably why you’re looking for easy acoustic guitar lessons in the first place, right? So find lessons that teach you your favorite songs! It can be very boring to learn a song you don’t really like. There’s just no motivation. So don’t settle for anything less than learning what you like!

4. Learning to play the guitar should be a fun and restful experience so don’t settle on any so called easy acoustic guitar lessons that that don’t do just that! The lessons should be simple and easy to understand and should produce some immediate results (that is…a song played by you!) in a short period of time.

5. When looking for easy acoustic guitar lessons , make sure you feel good about the instructor that is teaching you. Is he/she clear about what they are teaching. Is their style compatible with what you enjoy listening to and playing?

The Best Acoustic Guitar Lessons

January 3rd, 2010 No comments

There are plenty of guitar lessons available online. Even some of the websites that charge for courses have free videos for you to get started. Acoustic guitar lessons regularly target fingering open chords or demonstrate strumming patterns but today I will be able to target the right hand methodology for acoustic guitar playing, to try and bring some variation to your technique.

The electrical guitar player has a selection of electronic effects to help him demonstrate his emotions and musical concepts, but the acoustic guitar player has only his right hand. And that is all he needs.

So, leaving the focus of most free acoustic guitar lessons, we are going to look at some methods of working with the right hand to permit it to become more expressive and to offer you more control over your picking and strumming, this is not as hard to achieve as you may think, with a little concentration you can master the techniques required.

First, I should mention something that if you’re new to the acoustic guitar lessons, you may not know about: if you attempt to play fast, you will most definitely lose volume, something I bet you don’t want. This loss of volume should be compensated for, if you feel you need that additional bit of speed and sometimes you will need that extra speed, so get in the habit of compensating for the loss of volume. To add volume to fast passages, its very straight forward you have to add force to your picking or strumming. This doesn’t mean you need to tense your right arm. You can simply slow down your playing and concentrate on accuracy.

When practising your acoustic guitar lessons, You watch how you pick or strum and ensure that your playing in a sequence of movements that go from one to the other without delay and without needing to shut your eyes and hope you hit the right strings. If you are feeling any points where your hand is uncertain where to go, you must look closely at how you are playing and when you are losing track of what you do. And then try to eliminate this from your acoustic guitar lessons.

The most important aspect I need to get across in this free acoustic guitar lesson is that crosspicking is a perfect way to give your right hand more confidence. Whenever you have acoustic guitar lessons you should practice slowly.

If you  naturally, till your hand you may be able to move between strings without hesitation. When practising in your acoustic guitar lessons, keep your wrist loose as you practice. This is going to be a rule, you should stick to when having acoustic guitar lessons, except when you’re playing a sequence of fast up and down movements like fast strumming or a single string tremolo passage.

Crosspicking involves moving smoothly and fast between strings, and is one of the most important elements of acoustic guitar lessons, so if you become proficient at this picking method your playing style will become more flexible and free from stress. Before you go off attempting to find other free acoustic guitar lessons, remember that whether or not you are playing single note tunes or strumming chords, the amateur acoustic guitar player needs to listen for the revealing scraping that shows he’s not holding the pick at the right angle to the strings.

Guitar Lessons for Beginner

January 9th, 2010 No comments

Trying to choose which of the many beginner guitar lessons available to you today would suite you best can be a confusing task in itself!

How exactly would you know where to start to choose which of those beginner guitar lessons you should buy in to?.

In your minds eye you have a vision of where you want to end up. The outcome you desire is quite clear. Perhaps your wish is just to play classical guitar for your private enjoyment in your own home. It may be to give it some country & western at your local club or college, or just maybe, you have a vision of yourself on the wider stage!

To attain your goal though, you need to start with your first step. Although you will not know your final destination, you do know that you have to start at the begining and for sure that means with some beginner guitar lessons. There will surely be some frustration along the way as you commence on the journey to play your guitar, nevertheless the reward for sticking at it, for your resolve with your practice and learning to master your guitar, is truly awesome.

It is really important that you have a suitably mapped out path to steer you along the way as you immerse yourself in your beginner guitar lessons. You shouldhave a system that stimulates you, absorbs you and really makes it fun.

Your journey to learn and master guitar should start at your beginning, it must start from where you are ready to start. Whether that position is from absolute novice or from somewhere more advanced along your road to success, it has to be suitable for you.

But what really makes up a good course of beginner guitar lessons? There are many courses of beginner guitar lessons to be had today and they are at all prices and quality. Any properly structured course will consist of a mixture of excercises for you to learn and practice that will keep you engaged and enjoying that course from the very start until you are happy that you have fully mastered your guitar.

At the heart of any top quality course of beginner guitar lessons will be a set of professionaly produced video tracks. It is paramount that the teacher hosting the video set within the course is not only an excellent guitar player himself but that he communicates his skills and teachings in an agreeable and absorbing manner. These lessons will be central to your beginner guitar lessons. A full and detailed set of written material should be included and work with the video collection to enrich the practical learning experience with both theory and practice routines based around the songs and finger positions demonstrated on the discs.

Playing your guitar will for sure give you the most direct learning route. To that end a good selection of jam-along CDs are the best way for you to practice and should be included for you to play the songs you have been learning along with a band. You will be delighted at how much fun this can make your practice sessions

It is a big advantage if the course includes a student support system. To have access to your teacher and perhaps fellow students for reasurance and support can be the difference between success and frustration. An active student community all helping and encouraging each other can add a different dimension to your learning experience. Having a meetingpoint where you can go and feel you are part of a larger group of like minded people all facing the same challenges can be a blessing if you ever feel frustrated by your course of beginner guitar lessons.

So what will you have to pay to get into a course like this? Of course we all understand that nothing comes for nothing. There is no such thing as a free lunch! Certainly there are rudimentary courses available today at low prices which of course are likely to deliver low quality to match!.

However, the depth and quality of your course will in the end dictate the price you pay. At the end of the day your own ambition for yourself and your guitar playing skills will decide for you. If you are going to truly learn and master guitar then you will need to devote a good deal of time in and around your course. It is without doubt the quality and the depth of your course you invest in that will keep you learning within it and enjoying the experience such that you go on to reach the goals you have set yourself to play guitar.

The years of enjoyment and satisfaction on offer to you for staying committed to the learning experience you have invested in is priceless. The value for money to be enjoyed in a course such as this goes way beyond the price that you will be asked to pay and to be fair that price will probably be less than you might have thought. Beginner guitar lessons purchased from a well known and respected company are more likely to be supported by a no quibble return and money back policy. So in effect you have the opportunity to buy, try and to evaluate the course at home and with absolutely no risk.
